28 Lessons in 28 Years

3 decades in another 2 years. Wow. Super excited. Weird right? Who rejoices at the thought of getting older. lol. Okay, just before the big 30, now is a great time to reflect on the last 28 years on planet Earth! Over the years, I have been more intentional and there has been tons of unlearning and relearning. So there's quite a lot to share. However, we would stick to 28 because it's a special day.

The Last 28 years flashed before me whilst I was meditating. I have gone through positive and negative emotions which has impacted me in several ways, and I can only get wiser. This isn’t an exhaustive list of what you should do. Pick what rocks your boat!

  1. Time really does fly. So do what you must. Leave no stones unturned and live with no regrets.
  2. Don’t take your quiet time for granted. It’s your opportunity to build strength. Set aside 10 minutes daily.
  3. Enjoy your teenage years. Don’t go all crazy tho. Learn a new skill, Eat all you want, burn calories and sleep all you want because you may never get the chance.
  4. Always keep an open mind. Learn new things, but protect your space.
  5. Call your mum every single day.
  6. Be kind to others. You never know what they are going through or what they have been through.
  7. Don’t burn bridges, if at all possible. Sometimes life takes you in different directions, but keeping relationships in tact during the process is usually for the best.
  8. Sometimes you do have to burn bridges. Forgive, forget and move on.
  9. Quit worrying. It does no good. Opportunity meets preparation. Pick yourself up and try again. You weren’t created void.
  10. A well trimmed brow can brighten your mood.
  11. Offer to pay someone’s lunch. Render help if it’s in your capacity.
  12. Save and invest. Make your money work for you.
  13. Give yourself a good treat. Travel, Dine with friends, Watch movies. Spend your money. You don’t need it in eternity. Buy yourself something nice from time to time.
  14. Take care of yourself. Exercise , Eat decent, get a massage or a pedicure.
  15. Work hard and smart, nothing comes easy.
  16. Don’t lose your identity. Find something you love and do it. Whether it’s baking, vlogging, sewing or writing, find something that allows you to spend some time alone and enjoy it.
  17. Travel. You don’t have to be a world traveler, but go on vacation. Go on weekend trips.
  18. Be happy with what you have. Stop trying to keep up with the Joneses, who cares what car you drive? Work hard for what you have and be proud of it.
  19. Comparison is the thief of joy. Beware of the time watchers. Shouldn’t you be married? Are you not pregnant yet? Face your race.
  20. Disconnect from social media and gadgets from time to time.
  21. Keep your siblings close. They are your first friends. Life will take you in different directions, but call them at least once a week.

  28. You get what you pay for. Focus on quality rather than quantity.

Live, Love, Laugh. Focus on being happy. We've all got our individual purpose. Happy Birthday to me!
